High temperature and heat resistant ropes and cords are used as gasket seals for a variety of access panels and doors on boilers, ovens, stoves, furnaces and kilns. High temperature and heat resistant packings are typically ropes in square form, used as seals on pump shaft applications.
Some square ropes are not exclusively used as packings - some are used as compression gaskets for applications such as wood burning stove door seals, where the rope fits into a square channel in the door or the door frame.
