Sleeves are used to provide thermal and electrical insulating protection for flexible rubber hoses, wiring, cables, tubing, rigid metal piping from hostile environments such as high temperature, flame, fire, molten metal splash, welding splatter, sparks and abrasion.

Sleeves can also provide insulation value to protect from heat loss, or heat gain or for freeze protection. Personnel can also be protected from contact burns from hot hoses and piping with appropriate sleeving.
