Fiberglass Woven Thin Tape for Electrical Apparatus (EA) Manufacturing

DeltaGlass EA™ tapes are high temperature and thin woven tape for electrical apparatus manufacturing; designed for motors, generators, starters and transformers. Fiberglass (fibreglass or glass-fibre) woven tapes are fabricated from high quality type E fiberglass that will not burn and will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 1200°F / 648°C.

These high temperature tapes provide protection of industrial wires, cables, hoses, tube and pipe and also provide thermal insulation and personnel protection. Also used as a gasket or seal.

This material resists most acids and alkalis and is unaffected by most bleaches and solvents. It is flexible and conformable.

Tape Construction

The high strength, non-shrinkable and high thermal endurance of glass fiber tapes enables AB Technology to manufacture tapes to a minimal thicknesses. This allows design engineers more flexibility and enables more copper content and increased power ratings in electrical apparatus.

The high heat resistance of the glass fiber tapes allows operation in high ambient environments and with high internal temperatures. The tapes are only limited by the varnish and resins chosen to encapsulate.

DeltaGlass EA™ tapes are available with a variety of finishes to enhance your manufacturing process, whether manual or machine process.

Available Finishes:

Heat Finish - This is the standard finish applied to all tapes - it is a heat treatment that removes all of the manufacturing starch and oil used as a lubrication during the manufacturing process. Heat treating leaves the tape clean and able to accept resins and adhesives.

Silane Finish - This is a combined finish, where the tape is heat cleaned (not Heat Finish) almost totally removing all organics and then a silane finish is added allowing exceptional polyester and epoxy wet-out performance.

AF (Acrylic Finish) - Transparent or yellow tinted acrylic binder fuses the warp and fill yarns to provide stability during weaving. This is a weave-setting finish wherein the warp and filling yarns are slightly fused together to stabilize the weave pattern and minimize the shifting of yarns. The tape retains its original white color with CT Finish and has a light yellow color with the CT Yellow Finish. This finish reinforces the tape and better enables it to withstand the abrasion frequently encountered in any winding operation. This tape, along with a Gilt Edge Finish, is our best product for increasing operator comfort since it minimizes fiberglass dust and its associated mechanical irritation problems.

Edge Finish - Synthetic resin is applied to the edges which provides better handling and minimizes fraying and unravelling in both machine and hand taping operations.

Caramelized Finish - The tape is heated (to a lower temperature than Heat Finish and Silane Finish) to remove some starch. The remaining starch caramilizes giving the tape its tan color. This finish improves the penetration of most varnishes with the added benefit that the tape cuts cleanly without fray.

Combined Finish - Finishes can be combined. A popular combined finish is Caramelized Finish with Edge Finish.

Tape Construction Options - Custom thickness and width available in any construction and finish
